Week of 12.11.2022 | Day Four
Ezekiel prophesies to the Israelites before and during their time of exile. Before they were taken captive and forced from their land by Babylon, Ezekiel warned the people of the coming judgment, as the previous prophets had done. The judgment that Ezekiel speaks of culminates in the departure of God’s glorious presence from the temple. The idolatry of God’s people is exposed and He no longer dwells with His people. Ezekiel emphasizes how God is always in control. Even when it seems like Babylon has won and they’re removed from their land, Ezekiel speaks of God’s Sovereignty to deal with sin justly and restore His presence forever. God sent His Son, the Perfect King, who is the “radiance of God’s glory, and the exact representation of his being” to forgive us of our sins and restore His presence. His people, under His rule and blessing, bringing about the fullness of His glory, just as He designed it to be.

Ezekiel 36:25-28; Ezekiel 39:7-8; Hebrews 1:1-13
Ezekiel 36:25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. 28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Ezekiel 39:7 “And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. 8 Behold, it is coming and it will be brought about, declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken.
Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? 6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”
10 And,“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; 11 they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, 12 like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.”
