Isaiah 22:8-14
Discuss
What does this passage teach us about God?
Point out that God is speaking to His people, Israel, through the prophet Isaiah. God cares for His people, He warned His people to repent of their sin and follow Him. God is gracious!
What does this passage teach us about man?
We see the hearts of the people are hardened, they do not want to repent of their sin and turn to God, instead they say, “Let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die.”
We see how the people had set their hope in themselves and forgotten the Maker and Sustainer of all the good that had come to them. They chose to provide for themselves instead of seeking God and asking Him to provide.
How should we respond?
We have a choice just like the Israelites. We can choose to hear what God is saying to us through His word and believe it or reject it and follow our own path.
Pray
Spend time praying. You are holy and righteous, and we know that You are right and fair to judge sin. Thank You for loving us enough to give us warnings and to provide safety for us through Your Son, Jesus. Help us to turn away from sin and turn to Jesus as Lord.
