Read
2 Chronicles 24:13-22
Discuss
What does this passage teach us about God?
Help kids see the patience and kindness of God to send prophets like Zechariah to warn King Joash and the people of the consequences for their sins.
Psalm 103:8 says, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”
What does this passage teach us about man?
One important takeaway from this is how easily we can be led into sin when we do not listen to Godly wisdom. We see that when Joash listens to the advice of people who do not love God and are not living in obedience to God, it leads him into sin. The prophet Zechariah warns that there will be difficult consequences for sin. It is only by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus that we can escape the consequences of our own sin.
How should we respond?
Similarly to Day 1’s response, we should listen to wise counsel (advice from people who love God). We should be cautious when people who do not love God try to influence us.
Pray
God, thank You for Your love toward us. Thank You that we can come and repent of sin and turn to You to help us make the right choices. God, thank You for Jesus who came to rescue us from our sins and death. Thank You that our lives will be forever changed when we trust in Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
