What does this passage teach us about God?
God gives the gift of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ. God is gracious and merciful.
What does this passage teach us about man?
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Our sin deserves punishment, which is death.
How should we respond?
Repent of sin. Accept the free gift of salvation given to us by God by putting our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Why is repentance important?
Challenge kids to consider their own sin and how it separates them from God. Discuss how unrepentant sin always leads to death. Remind kids that sin is an eternal offense against a holy God. Encourage kids to remember that Jesus’ death on the cross paid the cost of our sin if we choose to repent.
Why should we never be afraid to come to God in repentance?
Lead kids to understand that God loves us and always wants what is best for us. Discuss how God already knows their sin and has provided a way for their sin to be wiped away. Remind kids that God sent Jesus to rescue us from our sin so that we could be brought near to God.
Pray
Spend time praying. Confess your sins to God and repent. Thank Him for the gift of salvation that is made possible through Jesus!
