Here are some verses for your family to read about: Genesis 8:15-17; 20-22

Genesis 8:15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Go out from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh—birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth—that they may swarm on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Discuss

Ask younger kids specific questions about the verses or to retell the passage. Ask older kids critical thinking questions. Here are a few suggestions:

Who is in control of the rain, wind, and all weather?

How many days were Noah and his family in the ark?

What was one of the first things Noah did after getting out of the ark? Why?

What was God’s response to Noah’s offerings?

What characteristics of God do we see in this passage?

Pray

Lead your family in a time of prayer over what you read.

Consider the ACTS model (Adoration- Adore or praise God, Confession- Confess sin, Thanksgiving- Thank God, and Supplication- Ask God to supply your needs)

Today we will focus on T-Thanksgiving: Heavenly Father, thank you for salvation. You saved Noah, his family, and two of every kind of animal in the ark. Thank you for your promise to faithfully maintain all seasons in their appropriate time, providing us with what we need to survive. Thank you for graciously giving us Jesus as our ultimate Savior from sin and death. In His name we pray, Amen.
